CM Services is the only agricultural contractor you need to create practical muck heap areas with good bases and boundary walls. Our recommended materials are metal posts along with concrete panels or treated wooden sleepers, with a concrete or hardcore base and drainage solutions which will meet all your requirements for a useful, tidy and durable muck heap area.
When placing a muck heap, you should consider the following:
Location
Muck heaps should be placed away from water sources, such as streams, rivers, wells, springs, and boreholes. They should be at least 10 metres from a watercourse and 50 metres from a water source used for human consumption or farm dairies.
Access
Muck heaps should be easily accessible to heavy machinery and large vehicles with the front access being kept clear.
Muck Heap Bases
A solid muck heap base, such as concrete, is recommended for ease of maintenance.
Muck Heap Boundary Walls
A boundary wall should be installed to contain any overspill.
Muck Heap Management
Muck heaps should be managed to maintain a clean and healthy yard. This includes forking up the muck to create layered steps and sweeping the concrete base daily.
